Dear NTP-Users of swisstime.ethz.ch
After we changed the NTP use of swisstime.ethz.ch to ClosedAccess at the en=
d of 2012 we tried contacting the main users of this service (via whois) fo=
r a six month period - unfortunately with minimal success. As of July 1st =
2013 the time has come. SWITCH will block NTP-access at the border to Swiss=
NRENs so that commercial users and universities/ technical colleges (outsi=
de Swiss NRENs) will no longer be able to access swisstime.ethz.ch as a tim=
e server.
This is for your information as well as for others who may be affected by t=
his change.

Nachdem wir Ende 2012 die ntp-Nutzung von swisstime.ethz.ch auf Closed Acce=
ss reduziert haben, wurde w=E4hrend 6 Monaten versucht die Hauptnutzer des =
Services =FCber whois-Eintr=E4ge zu informieren, allerdings mit m=E4ssigem =
Erfolg. Per 1. Juli 2013 ist es nun soweit. SWITCH wird den ntp-Zugriff am =
Border zum Schweizer NREN blockieren, so dass kommerzielle Nutzer und Unive=
rsit=E4ten/Hochschulen ausserhalb des Schweizer NREN swisstime.ethz.ch als =
ntp-Server nicht mehr nutzen k=F6nnen.
Dies zu ihrer Information und m=F6glichen Weiterleitung an andere betroffen=
e Kreise.
