I have had a similar experience a while back with some old Dell cards
(DRAC). Usually I ended up logging in to the console and rebooting the
remote access controller which seemed to fix it for a while. I am not
sure how the HP ILO stuff works, have you tried giving the ILO
controller itself a reboot?
