Catch up to what? Are there dualstack CPE routers out there only able to
handle /64 prefix delegation?

Well-known (in Germany) CPE router vendor AVM supports running WiFi in
either bridged or routed mode. In routed mode, LAN ports get the first
/64 from the DHCPv6-PD delegated prefix, and the WiFi domain gets the
second /64. Et voila, there is the first use case. ;-)
This is also why their 6RD implementation doesn't accept anything less
than a /63.
