This is a common misunderstanding of the personality type.
Your recommendation is based on the assumption that you are dealing with a
predominantly rational person, according to a "normal" sense of rational.
In reality, these situations occur with someone who thrives on getting any sort
of reaction at all.
Much like the claim that there is no such thing as bad publicity, this sort of
person enjoys any and all interaction, no matter how distasteful and dissuading
a 'normal' person might find it.
The only response that works -- and even this is not guaranteed -- is shunning.
Drop the message. Do not respond. Ever.
