MIPS are now used as a core in many microcontrollers as an alternative to A=
RM.
I do development using Microchip's PIC32MX which is based on a 32-bits
MIPS M4K core, beautiful piece of silicon and very good performance.
I have a small collection of old gear, somewhere I've a couple of the
old Sinclair Spectrum Z-80 with 16KB RAM !!, amazing that one used to
program those things with 4K and some kids today don't know how to get
started if they don't have a couple of GB's in APIs.
Cheers
