Unless I misunderstand your meaning, I gather you mean
cells that vent to the room air vice out a vent pipe?
A battery room damn well have 100% separate ventilation;
you don't want either the hydrogen fumes or acid near your
expen$ive cisco's and TNT's...
Also, such a room should have draconian restricted access rules.
Besides the obvious acid-in-eyes issues; drop a screwdriver or
wrench across a 2v 500Ah cell and it will turn bright orange
really fast and thne start throwing molten metal. Now think
about a watch band doing that......
As I said, the costs of a real 48v DC plant add up fast.
