<td id=3D"Jskugu2ty">

The next time yo=
u need groceries, you might not need to shop at a grocery store. CVS and Wa=
lgreens are both getting into the grocery game in a big way, in order to ca=
ter to customers' needs as well as their wants. Studies show people shop fo=
r drugstore items only about once a month, but they shop for food two or mo=
re times per week. Drugstores are hoping that when you come in for milk and=
eggs, you'll also pick up some greeting cards or DVDs. " Good Morning=
America" recently found people surveying a selection of oranges, bana=
nas, apples, potatoes, onions and peppers. " Corn flakes ... where are=
the corn flakes?" asked one customer. Click HERE to learn more about =
drugstore rewards and rebate programs. There was meat, eggs and even sushi.=
But this wasn't a local grocery store. This was Walgreen's. " We want=
ed to develop a daily healthy and living solutions store," Mark Wagner=
, president of operations and community management for Walgreen's, told &qu=
ot; GMA." It's working. Drug stores that have added more food are attr=
acting more customers and making more money. " It's been very successf=
ul when you look at it from a financial aspect, but it's been even more suc=
cessful when you look at it from a community aspect," Wagner added. Wa=
lgreens deliberately added groceries to stores, such as one on the South Si=
de of Chicago, that are in so-called " food deserts" -- urban are=
as with no grocery stores. " They have things that, you know -- variet=
y for the family -- that's what we're looking for," one shopper said. =
So it's good for the stores, but it is good for the customers?

&quot=
; Some of my best grocery store deals have come from drugstores," said=
Chrissy Pate, co-founder of BeCentsAble.net, a forum for the best grocery =
deals around the country. " The drugstores offer lots of store incenti=
ves and that's what makes them different than the grocery stores and big bo=
x chains -- you're going to find lots of store coupons, lots of rebate prog=
rams and lots of store credit," she said. " And that's how you ca=
n really get some rock-bottom prices." Drugstore Deals " GMA&quot=
; asked Pate to show us the deals you can snag at drugstores. " Corn f=
lakes! This is a great price," she said. We compared the prices she fo=
und at the drug store to the local grocery store. First up: Kellogg's cerea=
l. Grocery store price: $3.29. CVS price: $1.79. A savings of $1.50. Next: =
Maxwell House coffee. Grocery store price: $7.99. CVS price: $5.99. A $2 sa=
vings. Pate said that if you keep an eye out for special rewards card deals=
you can save even more money. Pate uses CVS Extra Care Bucks for a 12-pack=
of Pepsi. The grocery store price would have been $4.00. The CVS price is =
$1.67. That's $2.33 less. At Walgreens, she finds more killer drugstore dea=
ls. For example, one 32-ounce container of honey: Grocery store price -- $7=
19. Walgreens price: $3.99. Savings: $3.20. Finally, for the ultimate in s=
avings, Pate combines both manufacturer coupons and store coupons to save b=
ig on Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Grocery store price: $2.24. Walgreen's pri=
ce after coupons: 17 cents. Her savings: $2.07. Savings experts say drugsto=
res' regular food prices are typically higher than at grocery stores, but t=
heir sales -- designed to get people in the door -- are killer. There is on=
e other key difference between drugstores and grocery stores: inventory. Gr=
ocery stores usually stock plenty of everything. Drugstores don't have as m=
uch space. So you should either go at the beginning of the sale or if a bar=
gain item has sold out, be sure to ask for a rain check. How Do Prices Comp=
are?

Drugstores' regular prices are likely to be higher than big box=
store prices, but if you cherry pick drugstore sales, you can get deals li=
ke these: 8. Don't Forget to Shop Online If you just shop at Walgreens stor=
es, you'll miss out on its online deals. Walgreens.com offers up to 50 perc=
ent off select items each week. Or you might find special bonus rewards poi=
nts offers on certain online purchases. 9. Schedule Recurring Deliveries Yo=
u can save 10 percent or more off certain items purchased on Walgreens.com =
if you opt to have them shipped to you on a recurring basis. Plus, they shi=
p for free. Items eligible for the Auto-Reorder & Save program are mark=
ed as such on the product details page and in the checkout cart. You can ea=
rn Balance Rewards points on Auto-Reorder & Save purchases, but you can=
only use points on your first recurring shipment. Shopping at CVS is very =
similar to shopping at Walgreens, the main difference between the two is th=
at you MUST have the CVS Extra Care card in order to take advantage of thei=
r sales. There is a limit on how many of the same item you can purchase at =
CVS and that is tracked by your Extra Care card. Instead of receiving back =
Register Rewards, you get Extra Care Bucks (ECB's) that print out at the bo=
ttom of your receipt (be sure not to throw them away!!). These are store co=
upons and can only be used at CVS. You can find a great deal about upcoming=
sales at the CVS blog iheartcvs.com, also linked on the sidebar under &quo=
t; money saving blogs" . This blog has upcoming ads posted and also li=
sts coupon match-ups and links to printables. GETTING STARTED Head into you=
r local CVS and fill out a registration form, or go to the CVS website here=
to apply for one to get your card. Having one card in your name and one ca=
rd in your spouse's name is one way to maximize your savings at CVS. With T=
WO cards you can take advantage of their sales and get around limits. Your =
spouse does not need to be there to fill out the form, nor does he need to =
be there to shop. You will have to keep track of which card is used for the=
limits, shopping at 2 different stores and only using one card at each is =
a way to keep track. The limits are also tracked on your receipt.

=
