for those of you who haven't looked at the report of the task force on
student life and learning lately, take a look. it's fucking great.

the disingenuousness and outright *wrongness* of some of the report's
asssertions (such as the deluded notion that "[t]he need for a transition
to life at MIT has long since been recognized in academics, where the
design of the core curriculum, advising, and grades all help ease the
transition to MIT's academic program") leaves my head spinning.
consider this your occasional reminder that mit's leadership, at both the
student and administrative levels, is capable of utterly remarkable shows
of silliness and wrongheadedness.

i know, graduate students have better things to do than check up on the
undergraduates. but it's fun to root for the underdog, eh?

ps. speaking of which, check out those YANKEES getting spanked all over
the place by the diamondbacks!! all the money in the world won't get you
back from a 2-0 deficit. even if they ARE from new york, i'm not going to
cheer for the bastards.
pps. are we allowed to talk about mit politics now that there's a war
going on? i see that the editorials in the tech are showing a touching
concern for The World At Large, repetitive and dogmatic as they are; i
almost feel guilty, mentioning the UA.
