Many residents have already voiced concerns about allowing the marijuana industry to grow in Buchanan Last month 20 people attended a City Commission meeting to voice opposition to a dispensary proposed by one resident John Wallace for a site in the 1100 block of Red Bud Trail North On Tuesday Buchanan resident JT Williams was among those who plan to speak out against marijuana businesses at next weeks hearings We dont want this in our community where were trying to raise families or around our churches Williams said noting that the site of Wallaces proposed dispensary was within a few yards of three churches Others such as Gabrielle Burke a soontobe transplant to Buchanan said the benefits of marijuana for medical patients were too great to block expanded access Burke who has a family history of breast cancer and was recently diagnosed with the disease said she hoped to have access to a safe natural remedy for pain and nausea If I were to go down the chemotherapy route Id
