Hopefully the Ombudsman can help this unfortunate guy.
If not, I would recommend he get in touch with the Foundation for Individual
Rights in Education (FIRE), a pressure group that was formed a few years ago
to deal with exactly this kind of scenario, regrettably common in America's
highly authoritarian universities, which place severe limits on freedom of
speech. FIRE has already had a lot of success. They can help in any number of
ways, anything from an inquiring phone-call to an all-out media blitz,
pressure on MIT's trustees and help with legal representation, if it comes to
