I'm not ready yet to say anything certain about what the letter would
be, or to settle on the New York Times as definitively the right forum
(maybe we should target the Journal of Higher Education; maybe we
should target a 15 second spot on MTV; maybe...) or anything so
concrete.

My question was really just aimed at finding out "if the right message
were crafted, and the right forum selected, would you contribute real
money to its publication?"

If the response is positive to this survey question (and I won't tell
all these lists how it's going so far because I don't want to bias
future respondants -- I'm not quite as dumb as CNN) then the next step
would be to see if a majority of those who are interested can converge
on an appropriate message and forum.
