To continue with the psychobabble, it would seem that, as a Boomer, Jones
is essentially accusing the new generation of having simply sold out. Is
it possible that these are merely the excretions of a disillusioned
idealist trying to come to terms with her disappointment in the state of
world by putting it into condescending terms; labeling it and boxing it up
to be dealt with mechanically?
I would think that these machinations would be inherently objectionable to
someone who once believed in idealism and her insulting suggestions of 'how
to deal with these students' may just be coupling bad with bad, dealing
with disgusting by matching it, as one sometimes does in the face of
disillusion.
actually I'm just trying to punt my work.
