I strongly disagree with this statement.  Learning is not a
comfortable activity.  People are bound to encounter ideas hard for
them to deal with in an environment like this (be that quantum
mechanics or racy posters in the infinite), and that will cause
discomfort.

MIT should try to make the learning environment as comfortable as
possible, but not by curtailing the ideas that students are allowed to
express or experience.
