I'm utterly convinced that Glazer's remarks regarding Bush
demonstrate once and for all that a certain inability to
reason plagues a good number of today's lefties. Perhaps
he should turn his critique of Bush's intelligence back
on himself, considering how unabashedly idiotic his assessment
is, how unforgivingly sparse his knowledge is on the
affair, and how willingly he rides the big fat ones of
third world diplomatic thugs speaking on behalf of their
disparate juntas, collapsing dicto-democracies, and
outdated Communist Parties. That, and his inexplicably
irrational clinging to the notion of "human rights" essentially
reveals his lack of moral legitimacy and general
reasoning faculty beyond whatever narrow field of science
he's engaged in. Like many Democrats, he's driven by his
Disneyland view of the world which requires him to put
down those clearly more capable of handling reality as it
is and always will be. I should hope he seeks immediate
withdrawal from MIT and find a new home at the Center
for Marxist Education in Central Square.
With that point out of the way, I'll take it back as
soon as Glazer apologizes for his inaccurate, foolish
potshots against the President of the United States
and the governing party. But since Josh asked how we
felt I thought I'd go ahead and share.
Back to the broader matter:
To hell with the United Nations, and as far as I'm
concerned I can name thirty or so countries I wouldn't
mind seeing burn along with it. The United Nations
and its bungling mess of a Human Rights Commission
has now demonstrated its inability to even front like
they accomplish shit. Hopefully, even the most dense
bleeding heart liberals should recognize that the
United Nations isn't a collection of suburb-happy
Democrats, but the pompous ass, over-sexed and entirely
reprehensible scum representing their equally distasteful
governments and complicit in schemes to extort and
exploit not only those unfortunate to be represented
globally by them, but also those exposed to their
cancerous despicability through global associations like
the UN. Unfortunately, the United States is not a
wholesaler on democracy and human rights, nor should we
be. Nor should we have to deal with countries who
offer us nothing of material interest and further
compound their lack of worth with evil acts against
their own and their neighbors. Maybe I'm wrong and
Josh is right, but I don't see how getting diplomatically
fucked by some piss poor third world Central African
disaster, some overpopulated landmass of Maoist henchmen,
or France does Joe Taxpayer any good.
The United States should limit -- if not cut off -- its
participation in the UN and head off any attempt to
attach more legitimacy to the body than it already has.
As in any organization that seeks to supplant
national sovereignty with global mob rule, we are forced
to play a game not in and occasionally detrimental to
our interests.
The sooner we recognize we have sufficient global reach
and more than enough expandable industrial power to
act unilaterally, the better off we'll be and so will
the rest of the world. It's time for the world's last
great nation to stop dropping to the knee for every
backwater thug polity with that single shred of
international credibility needed to hold a seat in
the General Assembly.
I take that back. The continuing layover of Taiwanese
sovereignty and their return to the United Nations should
be a travesty to anyone who holds that republican governments,
free market systems, and international dealings in good
faith are essential towards pursuing American national
interests.
