I'm quite concerned about how the conversation on this list is quickly 
decreasing in quality. Diversity is obviously a big issue on this campus, and
in order for us to best address it, we need to have a good dialogue among
the student body about what we want to do and how we want to see this issue
addressed. I'm worried that the insults and personal attacks on this list
are hindering this conversation, and I'm also worried that if we continue
in this direction, we'll see a decrease in the quality of dialogue on mit-talk
in general. I know many people who have started to completely ignore this
list, and that shouldn't happen. We need people to think about all issues that
we discuss on this list, particualrily diversity right now, and if people
ignore the list, that will become difficult. 

So please. Calm down, and be the stronger person. Don't respond to a personal
attack to all 300+ of us. Ultimately, this will improve discussion about 
diversity and I know that many people (including myself) would have a great
deal of respect for anybody who does that.
