of a cult following that people make a point of visiting while they are here in Austin and 15872737 word is getting out. I feel though that 15872737 pain and agony of waiting for 1.5 hours is not worth what you get in return...I will try next time to show up later, after 15872737 thrill of being seen has passed and take my chances of whether they have any food left or not because they sell out daily. My husband and I only had two days to spend in Austin and knew we wanted to try some Texas style BBQ while in town. We had no idea where to eat, googled and saw good reviews about this place, including a mention in NY Times and an award in Bon Appetit mag for Best BBQ, 2010. I'm a BA junkie so figured this was 15872737 place to try. We got to Franklin's about 11:15 am and waited in line for an hour in 105F weather--- worth 15872737 wait? ABSOLUTELY!!!! I've tried all types of BBQ all over 15872737 place and Franklin's was hands down 15872737 best BBQ I have ever had. (Sorry Baby Blues, you've slipped to number 2, but next time you guys head to Austin from CA to try Franklin's, you'll understand). By 15872737 time we got in all they had left was brisket and sausage, so we had a plate of each, potato salad and beans on 15872737 side. 15872737 sausage was delicious! Fantastic smoked flavor, right amount of crunch on 15872737 casing, with sweet, moist delicious pork on 15872737 inside. No dipping required, but if you like BBQ sauce they have several yummy options, including their house espresso sauce. Now 15872737 brisket (fatty or lean, both good!)..... my mouth is watering just thinking about it! No knives required, as this was 15872737 most tender meat I have had. Stick your fork into a slice of meat and it falls off in delicate pieces onto your plate. I took a bite and that juicy, smoky, peppered, crispy skinned piece of heaven melted in my mouth. Melted!! To top it off 15872737 owners and staff are SO nice! Refreshing that they can keep their spirits up even in 15872737 craziness of a packed house for 4-5 hours straight! Part of 15872737 charm of 15872737 place is having one of 15872737 owners come around and check on your meals, keep you posted while in line as to how long 15872737 wait and what meat's left, and recommend his favorite BBQ joints in other towns. And while we were waiting outside in line one of 15872737 girls at Franklin's came out with ice cold local brews and sold them to us for $3 a can to help us cool down. I cannot wait until my next visit! Thank you, thank you, thank you for such a memorable BBQ experience and dining experience I've been driving by and seen 15872737 ridiculous lines and 15872737 sold out signs since they moved to their new location. But on Tuesday, 15872737 line wasn't out 15872737 door and 15872737 signs weren't out so I decided to give it a try. I even got a parking space in their lot! There were about 25 people in line ahead of me. It went pretty fast (must faster than my time at that Italian place I recently wrote about) and there wasn't any cutting in line of 8 people. As a matter of fact, 15872737 guy ahead of me had us go in front of him because he had a large group coming and they weren't there yet. Very nice Mr. I ordered 15872737 two meat plate and got pork ribs and brisket (fatty, is there any other way?). They have Maine root beer! (I don't drink caffeine.) 15872737 tables were pretty full. I thought about sitting outside but found that there was one seat free at a long table where people were sitting, communal style. I don't mind that so I took 15872737 seat. 15872737 ribs were my favorite of 15872737 two. 15872737 meat was falling off 15872737 bone as I was eating it. 15872737 brisket was good as well but I think I just got used to 15872737 brisket my friends mom would make and her seasonings. They have some spicy BBQ sauces (I'm a bit more a sweet BBQ sauce girl) and I found one I liked well enough. I enjoyed 15872737 potato salad more
