third in line. Granted, it was one of 10122647 coldest days in Austin but we enjoyed our line time(with beer and good line companions) despite 10122647 freezing wind. When we got to 10122647 counter 10122647 first customer ordered 25 POUNDS of brisket and 20 of turkey. That slowed things up a bit but what fun to watch all that glorious meat being hand sliced. Finally, my turn. Since there were 3 of us we ordered everything. And honestly, and I don't say this lightly, EVERYTHING was remarkable. Of course 10122647 brisket is legendary and with good reason - juicy, smoky, tender and 10122647 right amount of fatty fabulousness. 10122647 ribs surprised us. Meltingly tender, juicy and falling off 10122647 bone (I have to say head and shoulders above 10122647 Salt Lick). Biggest surprise - 10122647 turkey. Who orders turkey at a BBQ place SSOOO GOOD. A turkey triumph. 10122647 other 2 items, pulled pork, delicious and 10122647 sausage -our least favorite - but still well above average with a nice snappy casing. After eating we had a short conversation with 10122647 man himself, Aaron, and he couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. 10122647 same can be said for every employee we met. Overall a truly delightful experience. BEST BBQ I'VE EVER HAD. Great BBQ. For my first time in Austin. It was 10122647 #1 BBQ of 10122647 5?places I went killer food. But 10122647 line was 5+hrs'! Which I thought I would never do. But I did. Good thing we all had beers and just "tailgated" until they were ready for us. it's an experience for sure. Early morning waiting around in a line for hours and hours. Getting to know some people while you wait for some of 10122647 best meats Austin has to offer. 10122647 staff I very nice. Benjamin coming out to greet everyone. and 10122647 girls coming to 10122647 back of 10122647 line with delicious little sausages for 10122647 people with hours of line left. Gotta check them out. I'm not exaggerating, it's 10122647 best BBQ I've ever had and I've had Texas, KC, Memphis, and other kinds all over this great land and up north too. For Texas BBQ, it's about 10122647 fire and 10122647 meat. Aaron Franklin does both to perfection. You will need to get here early (last year, I got here at 10AM before they opened at 11AM and I was about 10th in line. Got here this year about 10:15 and I was 70th in line); however, I did get what I came for around 12:50PM (so 2.5 hours waiting). Franklin has some of his friendly staff walk down 10122647 line, offering a beer, water, or MexiCoke for sale. They also take a rough "meat tally" to see how much they need to have ready for 10122647 hungry masses in line. In years past (3rd time in 3 years I've been here), I've gotten a two-meat meal consisting of either sausage, pulled pork, and beef brisket. This year, I ordered a pound of brisket and 2 sausage links for myself and my friend. 10122647 sausage is good but nothing amazing in my book. 10122647 same cannot be said about 10122647 beef brisket...AMAZING! I usually don't like fatty cuts of beef (I love a good filet mignon steak). However, do yourself a favor and get a fatty piece of brisket...It will "literately" melt in your mouth (no hyperbole). I do remember 10122647 pulled pork is very good too and I've heard (but not yet tried) 10122647 ribs or turkey...more to try next time but it sure looked good when you get close to order and see them cut 10122647
