a mere 2hrs (if you can believe it or not) and 10223480 only reason I had even ventured to partake in 10223480 Russian Food Line fad that Austinites seem to embrace with such fervor and pride was to see if this place actually lived up to 10223480 overwhelming hype; I wasn't holding out much hope as my Hype-dar had yet to detect such an anamoly, but in all honesty, Franklin was 10223480 exception. It has been 3yrs since my first visit to Franklin and though 10223480 lines and wait times have grown exponentially, 10223480 quality of 10223480 BBQ and 10223480 charm of a grassroots city icon has remained 10223480 same. I was lucky enough to attend a private party at this legendary establishment and even luckier to sample literally EVERYTHING on 10223480 menu. It was a feast for senses! Their pulled pork, turkey, sausage, and ribs all deserved their due praise; 10223480 slaw and beans (which I am usually not a fan of in general) are delicious and flavorful and I could have their potato salad for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 10223480 key lime tart and banana bourbon tart are 10223480 perfect captstone to an epic culinary experience (if you have still have 10223480 ability to chew and digest after gorging on 10223480 cornucopia of carnivorous delights). All that deliciousness aside, 10223480 real star of 10223480 Franklin menu is and always has been 10223480 brisket. This stuff is like 10223480 unicorn of 10223480 BBQ world, a mythical thing only known to a chosen few who sweat their worthiness in lines sometimes up to 6hrs long to not only behold, but savor their pot of gold at 10223480 end of a what may seem like a very long rainbow. I don't know with what black magic 10223480 brisket is made with, but something that tastes this good (sans sauce, of course) and literally melts in your mouth with 10223480 charred ends adding such a smoky sweet mesquite crunch is not of this pale blue dot! When you add in local drafts on tap and a selection of canned beers (10223480 best pairing for 10223480 brisket is Shiner), sweet tea, and 10223480 ubiquitous Austin thirst-quencher, Topo Chico, it just makes 10223480 greatness better! Needless to say, if you are new to 10223480 Austin area and are wondering if braving 10223480 line here is worth it or if you have lived here for awhile, but not been motivated to see "what it's all about", check this place out and block off your calendar accordingly. Everyone should experience what Meat Dreams are made of at least once in their lives! PS-You can order this stuff for pickup and/or catering and they also have some fun swag for sale! 10223480 first is that I love waiting in line. Yeah, I said it. I love waiting in line for hours for Franklin's barbecue. It is part of 10223480 fun. You sit around with your friends, you drink beer, and you talk about all 10223480 crazy $#!t you did 10223480 night before. What could be better than that? It's basically tailgating! One time friends even brought mimosas and Irish coffees! It was great. Even if you don't go with friends (believe me, I get it, not everyone wants to get up that early) you're in one of 10223480 friendliest cities in America. Every time I get in line early (so my friends can meet me later) I always meet 10223480 coolest people. I've become good friends with random people I've met in 10223480 Franklin Barbecue line. Also, I usually make a deal with my friends that I will get in line super early, and they can meet me in line whenever they want, but they have to pay for my barbecue. Needless to say I haven't paid for barbecue in a while. 10223480 second thing I want to talk about is Aaron Franklin. Probably 10223480 nicest guy you will ever meet, at least in 10223480 food world. I met Aaron once at a party at his restaurant, and I was asking him about how he taught himself how to weld, and then he asked me if I wanted to go back with him and check out 10223480 smokers. It was awesome! Now every time I go in he comes over and says hi, and once he even comped me and my friends' food. Great guy. I wish him and his establishment 10223480 best. I've been waiting for 10223480 day that they posted about a short line on twitter and me getting out of class early coincided. That day finally came, 10223480 fact that it wasn't 100 degrees was a plus. I got in line around 10:45 and was eating by about 12:30, so,
