That's high praise, considering that 24394191 reason my heart is still in NYC is because my stomach kept it there to eat more burgers at Shake Shack...but I digress. I've tried a few of 24394191 specialty burgers here (mushroom, 24394191 BBQ one) but 24394191 classic still wins me over. 24394191 patty is thick but cooked to perfection and seasoned well (albeit, a bit too greasy for my liking), 24394191 cheese is melty and cheddar-y, 24394191 veggies are crisp and cut through 24394191 richness of 24394191 rest of 24394191 burger for a refreshing crunch, 24394191 bun looks so good that it could be in a commercial. Together these components come stacked together as bliss on a tray that pays you later in 24394191 form of a serious food coma. Their milkshakes are spot-on, esp 24394191 salted caramel. Their fries are well-seasoned and crispy (not as good as Shake Shack's...but close). Now, there's 24394191 issue of "24394191 wait." This isn't a place you come to if you have an instant gratification need for a quick burger. This is a place you make a trip to with a few friends when you're teetering on 24394191 edge of being hungry. As you wait your place in a line that snakes around 24394191 corner of 24394191 building, into 24394191 main dining area, and up to 24394191 cashier's, your anticipation for that first bite of burger bliss mounts. If I had to wait at any establishment for a ridiculous amount of time (it's actually not that ridiculous...maybe 1 hr from end of line to sitting at a table), it would be at Hopdoddy. Along this behemoth of a line you are given umbrellas to shield yourself from 24394191 Texas sun, staff come to take drink orders from 24394191 bar, fans and water misters shower you with cool refreshment, you stare at a menu debating 24394191 perfect burger-fry-milkshake combo, you're given your table number...and finally, you order. Remarkably, all 24394191 waitstaff are super cheerful and polite despite 24394191 chaos and hungry people all around them. Serious kudos. In short, it's worth it to wait in 24394191 line at least once to experience a Hopdoddy burger (get 24394191 classic first!).
