<font style="color: #FCFCFC">SARI, Iran A fired factory worker who threw his shoes at
the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during a visit to the northern city
of Sari, has been arrested, the Mehr news agency reported Monday. The man
conducted the shoe-throwing attack as Ahmadinejad delivered a speech. The shoes missed
the president and struck a banner set up behind him, according to
the report. The attacker was reportedly a textile worker who had lost his
job.Throwing shoes at a person is a major insult in the Muslim
world. In 2008, an Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at then-US President
George W. Bush during a news conference.
h smaller populations had the highest number of state workers per 1,000
residents, led by Alaska, Delaware (18.7), Connecticut (17.6) and Wyoming (16.7).The fifth-highest
rate was in Virginia, where there were 14.4 state employees per 1,000
people despite the state shedding nearly 1,700 state workers between the 2007
and 2011 budget years.Virginia's high level of state employees may be linked
to its ranking third in the country in state-maintained highways, although successive
governors have sought to chip away at the number of road workers
employed by the state.Only 12 states bucked the trend of dropping state
workers from the rolls. In Texas, the number of state government employees rose
by more than 7,300 between 2007 and 2011. But Mark Miner, a
spokesman for Republican Gov. Rick Perry, stressed that the state's rising population
meant the number of state workers dropped from 6.07 to 6.02 as
measured per capita. Perry is seeking the GOP presidential nomination
o continue even after they became fully aware of it."Raykovitz also is
facing questions about his handling of the 2008 complaint.Rosamilia, the Clinton County
youth services chief, said he had informed Raykovitz's wife in November 2008
that his office was terminating its relationship with The Second Mile because
of an abuse complaint. He said he had not identified the target
of that complaint, but that Genovese eventually guessed correctly that it was
Sandusky.Rosamilia, who said he mentioned his conversation with Genovese to investigators working
on the current prosecution, also recalled Genovese saying that a member of
The Second Mile board planned to speak with Sandusky about staying away
from Second Mile events involving children.Raykovitz said Rosamilia's description of the conversation
with his wife is incorrect. He would not elaborate. Attempts to reach
Genovese were unsuccessful.Raykovitz referred questions about what he did in 2008 to
a prior statement,
