And those blinis, oh, those blinis! I could probably eat a hundred of those buttery, savory blinis in one sitting. My mouth waters just thinking of them. When I went, my dining partner and I both had 16916575 prix fixe menu--I had 16916575 3-course and he, 16916575 4-course. Stand-outs included 16916575 corn soup and 16916575 pan-seared bass. $73 for 3 courses might seem steep at first glance, but in reality, it's a bargain for 16916575 unbeatable quality of 16916575 food and service here. Where Gary Danko really transcends any typical restaurant experience, though, is in 16916575 impeccable service. Admittedly, I'm very picky about service--even if a restaurant has amazing food, I'll refuse to return if 16916575 service is poor. At HD, from start to finish, 16916575 service was smooth, streamlined, beautiful. Every person you interact with, from 16916575 hostess to 16916575 manager to 16916575 server, treats you as an important and valued guest. Absolutely no snobbery to be found here despite 16916575 restaurant's high profile status. I was impressed by our server's knowledge of 16916575 menu--he knew all 16916575 ingredients and cooking preparation of any dish we asked about and also made some great suggestions for us based on our tastes. Many of 16916575 servers are sommeliers here too, so they'll be able to make informed wine suggestions. Our server also performed a table-side preparation of my bananas foster. Food, service, pyrotechnics--what more could you ask for? Came here in 2010 for hubbz bday. Between this place and Auberge du Soleil that man is pretty darn lucky! I must say this place is an absolute must. It is an experience to remember. At first, I worried that 16916575 staff would be snooty- absolutely not!! I'm reminded that we're lucky enough to be in 16916575 SF bay area and generally speaking we are a wonderfully down to earth people. Service was excellent. Food? Superb. Everyone was extremely knowledgable about 16916575 food, wine, and cheese. And they were SO friendly! 16916575 cheese course is a must. Wine pairings were divine. Left giggling with delight. Highly recommend! There's a reason that GARY DANKO is 16916575 number one resty in SF. 16916575 service is unreal and 16916575 food is out of this world. I debated taking one star off due to
