<font style="color: #FCFCFC">Sony Pictures ClassicsRoman Polanski is a wanted man and not just
by the U.S. government for fleeing the country to escape sentencing over
raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977.The Oscar-winning director is also wanted by
Hollywood actors.I was really, of course, attracted to the idea of working
with Roman Polanski, that was a pretty attention gaining phone call to
get, John C. Reilly, star of the forthcoming Polanski-directed firm Carnage told
FOX411s Pop Tarts. I thought it was a great script, a great
director to work with, and getting to live in Paris for a
few months, thats not too shabby. And first off he was a
really good actor so he gave really great acting notes, and he
had a great BS detector. He could tell if something didnt seem
organic or genuine. The man has been making great movies for the
past 60 years now, so it was pretty amazing to watch someone
like that work.Reillys co-star, the Oscar-winning Christoph Waltz, was also in awe.Getting
the chan
osed financial terms -- with Sylvester Stallone, after maintaining that he was
the uncompensated inspiration behind Stallones Rocky Balboa character.Regardless of who wins and
loses, the growing stack of lawsuits may be helping draw the line
between a writer or director who draws inspiration from someone elses story
or real-life events, and one who unlawfully plagiarizes it.According to U.S. copyright
law, ideas are free for anyone to use. Only specific expressions of
those ideas are protected. So anyone can make a movie about a
boy wizard who goes to school for wizards, but the law prevents
someone from copying the specific expression in the Harry Potter books, like
the plot twists, the traits of the characters, the names and dialog.
The line is grey sometimes, explained Matt Belloni, news director at The
Hollywood Reporter. Hollywood is very sensitive about stealing ideas because of the
long history of lawsuits. But the publicity surrounding the lawsuits does
minated to keep a 2008 campaign pledge. To appease possible dissenters, the
government agreed to give deductions on the tax to Italians with large
families.Among those voting against the austerity package were lawmakers from the Northern
League, the regional party which was Berlusconi's crucial coalition partner in his
two decades in power. It is not clear if the League would
team up again with Berlusconi's People of Freedom party in the next
election campaign. But lawmakers are also keenly aware that if Monti fails, new
elections could come as early as this Spring. And much of the
electorate is unhappy with new and higher taxes, including a rising sales
tax, and changes to a pension system that only until a few
years ago allowed workers as young as 50 to retire with pensions
as much as 80 percent of their last paychecks.
