Fried Chicken & Waffle and the Fried Oyster Benedict were so delicious! I want to go back to Portland just to try this place again. Beware of the serving portions. They were huge! But because everything was decently priced, it wasn't a big deal. Had a lot of food at the end, but we were so happy we got to try a lot of things. The only bad thing was the Garden Grits. Too cheesy or maybe I just don't like grits.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee

Most places lack the consistency or services needed to get that kind of a true rating. But I must say this place has achieved that goal and by far has the best southern food I've ever had!!
The Screen Door specializes in Southern, Cajun and creole food and they do it all really well. Let me start of with a disclaimer that the food is very fried, rich, and totally unhealthy, but that's what's so great about it. It's not like you could eat this stuff everyday anyways. But if you did you would be in food induced heaven. It's considered the number #1 ranked Restaurant in the Portland metro area, and very deserving of that rating. I went with a group of ten friends and surprisingly we had no wait time for seating.
As a group we ordered a plethora of food spanning the majority of the menu. I personally ordered the fried chicken that came with mashed potatoes and gravy with a side of collared greens. I also had a side of macaroni and cheese, just because it's my favorite dish. The collard greens were tasty and well cooked. The chicken was moist and was made with just the right amount of tenderness. However, The mac & cheese was on another level of deliciousness. It's Creamy, filled with gooey cheese and could've been an entire dish on its on. Luckily for me it can be ordered as a side dish as well.
When it came to time, There was very little wait time in between the dishes. It was practically non existent despite the fact it was a full house. So I compliment the staff and cooks on speedy service. The waiter we had was fun and maintained a great energy with us the entire night. He was an all around joy. He cracked jokes but still conducted himself with a professionalism that's rare in the dining service, at least in my opinion.
I personally loved this place! For my first time here is was truly a dining experience. I just wish they had a Screen Door in California, just so everyone could enjoy the incredible food here. Now I know anytime I go back to Portland, my first stop will always be at the Screen Door.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
