I write with sad news regarding the death of a member of DormCon Exec.
Today MIT administrators were informed by the New York City Police
Department that James Albrecht, Vice President of DormCon and
President of Baker, passed away in NYC on Sunday, July 22. Lt. Al
Pierce of MIT Police has been in touch with the New York City Police
Department and reports that an investigation is being conducted at
this time; however, the preliminary information is that they do not
expect foul play.
This initial information of James' death came to us from Barbara
Baker, Senior Associate Dean for Students.
We will keep in touch as more information becomes available. Snaggs
and I have contacted the housemasters of Baker House and there will be
a memorial service in September when classes resume and more students
return to campus. Our thoughts are with James' family and close
friends at this time; we will send his family flowers on behalf of the
Dormitory Council in his memory.
If you would like to meet tomorrow evening, Snaggs and I will be in
the third floor of the student center at 6:30pm, in the couch area
outside PDRs 1 & 2.
Sincerely,
Sarah Hopp, DomCon President
Snaggs, DormCon Advisor and Patron Saint
