Since I visited Wood Tavern before 18766962 I recommended to the table the crispy pork belly. While it was good, some of my friends were not impressed- it came on top of baked beans which I didn't favor. I don't remember it coming on top of baked beans when I visited last but who knows I may have been too tipsy from the cocktails to notice, LOL. <p><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><span style="font-size: 12px; color: #f4f5f5;">I had my usual hot pastrami sandwich for lunch here today and was rewarded with an enormous, piping hot pastrami pile, cut in half so it really was a lunch for two; and heaped up high was a crunchy stack of wonderful thin fries. I should have taken a picture close up but didn't. We got in right 18766962 when they opened at 11:30 am so we took a table next to the window and got our drinks immediately. As usual the service was exceptional. I was telling my friend that one of the reasons we keep coming back is because of the flower incident.
Two years ago on our anniversary we celebrated over dinner, but things got off to a poor start with my order of flowers online which turned out to be a scam so no flowers for my wife. But the situation changed 18766962 for the better. As soon as we were seated the waitress asked us the occasion and I related my sad story of the missing flowers. A few minutes later our server reappeared with a fresh picked bouquet of flowers from near by. It was a wonderful, over the top surprise which delighted my wife and was totally memorable to me, and is just one of the reasons we keep coming back to Wood Tavern.
Our server today was very friendly and helped my friend decide on his sandwich and went through the drink options patiently as we decided on just the right pale ale. My friend had the apple-celery root soup which 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee he liked, and I was impressed with the presentation which included a noticeable swirl effect on top. They left us alone until the end but we did check out the dessert menu and opted out, although the chocolate cake was tempting.
The food is consistently good here and the prices are fair, considering the portion sizes and caliber of fare. The menu is not overwhelming with too many choices, and I like it that way with the focus on a few really good dishes. I should really try something new for lunch next time when we venture out to Wood Tavern again. Get a reservation though since it is always booked up!7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
