<p><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><span style="font-size: 12px; color: #f4f5f5;">There is something very comforting about dinner at the Chip, an air of quiet confidence and professionalism that you don't get everywhere. The entire place is so well drilled, well executed and well judged that it's only when 12848575 you take the time to think about it you realise that your meal has been handled flawlessly.

And that's just the front of house staff, who are friendly, courteous and deliver excellent service.

As for the food, it's hard to fault. I've eaten 12848575 here a couple of times and each time I've had a vague sense that the portions could've been bigger... but then I realised that I'm glad they weren't. Sated but not stuffed.

I started with the venison haggis. A signature dish that I've had before but, no matter how hard I try I just can't see beyond it. Served with champit tatties, carrot crisp and turnip cream, it's perfectly balanced with each 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee flavour allowed time on the palate and not swamped by any of the others.

One of our party had the vegetarian haggis to start and was equally as impressed.

For my main a fillet steak, medium rare, with truffled peas, dauphinoise potatoes and a side of Bearnaise sauce. Oddly this was the low point of the meal for me. It was good but I've had better steaks as mine seemed a 12848575 little dry/overcooked to my preference, and I'm not really sure what the truffled peas were trying to achieve but they seem ill-conceived as part of the dish. 

On to the dessert, and my sweet tooth instantly picked out the Cr??me caramel,
served with green apple sorbet, madeleine, and muscat jelly. Ohhhh heavenly wonders. A silky smooth dessert complimented by the most amazingly subtle sorbet that really surprised me. I think I almost ended up preferring 12848575 the sorbet to the Cr??me caramel.... almost.

Overall, the entire experience is without fault. From entrance to exit, this is a restaurant that knows what it is doing and does it well, without fanfare, leaving you feel like you've just spent a few hours with an old friend, comfortable and already looking forward to the next time you meet.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
