A good number of locals seemed to 16389472 have come in to try to get a table as well, but were turned away because they did not have a reservation (and it may have had something to do with the Asian invasion). Regardless, the menu dishes up what is commonly regarded as French food and I think that is what diners appreciate about this restaurant - that it consolidates some of France's greatest hits into one acceptable package and allows you to efficiently sample a variety of delicacies.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee

I felt the star of the meal was the Foie Gras Ravioli appetizer. Enveloped in each pocket of pasta was a small mouthful of foie gras. The soft ravioli was served in a small puddle of creamy truffle sauce, and there was enough sauce 16389472 left over to indulge in some bread dunking as well. I'm not a connoisseur of foie gras, so I appreciated that the taste of foie gras in this dish was somewhat muted, possibly even overpowered, by the sauce. The gaminess of the foie was also subdued after being cooked.

In stark contrast, the House Foie Gras Plate 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee served up a very strong foie gras presentation. It takes more than a couple bites to become accustomed to the smell and taste. The intensity of the foie is much more in your face and I didn't find it very enjoyable.

Given that I had fallen severely ill on the last day in Paris, their warm cheesy French Onion Soup soup was a welcome sight. The 16389472 cheese was thick and gooey and the caramelized onions were sweet.

The Cassoulet was a miss for me. I may have been too full by the time this dish arrived, but it just didn't do it for me. It was too rich, 16389472 especially after all the appetizers we had just eaten.

Although the food was not incredible by any means, I do respect Comptoir's ability to present a comprehensive menu with a variety of French dishes in an accessible format. This seems to be a rarity based on the stories I've heard from my friends about other restaurants in Paris. There is also a foie gras shop adjacent to the restaurant; in fact, the shop and the restaurant are separated by a massive curtain. We actually wandered into the shop by accident when we were walking around exploring.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
