I was lucky enough to get what looked 6242285 like an antique Yu no Mi or tea cup that had an irregular, organic, natural rough rustic shape. The Yu no Mi was a combination of rough bare ceramic & smooth glaze to add tactile contrast to the tea drinking experience. Chef Urasawa related that it was his most precious cup. I told him that made me a bit nervous if, heaven forbid, I drop the cup. He just laughed.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee

My wife and I had plans to go to Spago for my birthday. 6242285 However, she ended up surprising me by making dinner plans at Urasawa instead.

The one and only. The one that I've been saving up from my kid's college fund to hopefully one day get a taste of the ultimate sushi experience. And it was finally here. I was in shock.

It didn't help that we couldn't find the place 6242285 very well. It's located in the heart of rodeo drive. Yes, the one that when you see pictures of the famous drive, that one. Once we were up the elevator floors and entered the curtained room, it finally hit me that I've been transported to another dimension.

The first thing people ask me afterward is, "Was it worth it?"

Nothing is worth that much no matter how 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee good the food tastes. However, going to Urasawa is not just about the food, but rather the whole experience. Since I'm judging it based on the overall experience, I'd say it was worth every penny.

First of all, I'm not sure how there's almost 1000 pictures taken of the food here. I started to take a picture of the food and I was told I couldn't. The servers are right over our shoulders constantly so I don't ever 6242285 know how anyone can sneak a shot in here and there. But pictures don't really do this place justice anyway. So if you want to see what they look like, just check on Yelp before you go.

I was going to comment on every dish that we ate. However, I realized there are plenty of accurate assessments of the dishes from the reviews so I will reserve this review for something else.

I'd say DON'T COME HERE if you don't like 6242285 a lot of toro and wagyu. They are prepared in many ways and if you're not a fan of those two items, it's not worth it for you. They serve mostly high end fish and beef, so if you're looking for traditional fish like salmon or yellowtail, you won't get it here.

Secondly, DON'T COME HERE thinking what you eat has to be worth the price of admission. While everything you get is high-end of the high-end items, I'm sure it doesn't cost that much to buy/fly them in everyday. You're paying for the whole sushi experience and watching a master at work. Honestly, watching Hiro-san work for the entire meal was mesmerizing. I was entertained the entire time and have never been so intrigued with every movement of how the food was prepared that the eating part of it was almost an afterthought.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
