My wife like the responsible working adult that she is has a work conference in San Diego this weekend, and I the remotely working engineer 9271400 eagerly tag along for a "working vacation". First day we get here we are exhausted, grab a late lunch near the hotel and crash.
After a nap and a decidedly unsatisfying mid-deal meal we decide to go find some dinner. Now before the trip, I had found 4 or so places worth checking out during our time here on Yelp (Werewolf happened to be one), 9271400 but that night we decided to just walk through the Gaslamp district and pick a place that looked decent when we got tired of the rain. After walking around for about a half hour we worked up an appetite and found ourselves in front of Werewolf. Cool. I wanted to check this place out.
We walk in, and are seated quickly at a 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee booth near the back. Check out the menu and order some drinks. As the drinks arrive, some goofball gets on the microphone and starts talking. Then I realize that we've arrived just in time for trivia night (one of my favorite things). I couldn't be happier at this point. I order the full boar and she orders the Ahi club as well as some papas balls for an appetizer.
Full Boar: Bun, great. Fluffy but with enough body to support the food inside. Not a pretzel bun which gets it extra stars. Patty, interesting. I've never had boar before and wasn't sure what to expect. Still not certain 9271400 about this. Toppings, excellent, but heavy handed on the aioli. I think this put me off a bit and the unfamiliar meat left me a bit confused. Next time, I'll try a KISS burger. Clearly the kitchen cares a good deal about the food they put out and I won't count off for a 'burger' than may just not be for me.
Fries: Amazing. I didn't even eat fries until a couple years ago because I hate soggy flimsy sticks of potato that need to be covered in ketchup to be palatable. These are the opposite of that. Good size, not too thick, excellent crispiness. They seem to be lightly coated in something delicious that will probably shorten my life, but at least it will be a happy few moments. Extra bonus for the sriracha sauce on the table.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
