Recently took a random roadtrip with my girlfriend to St. Louis for a day or two on a whim, and the one thing I kept hearing is that if I wanted to have the best barbecue in town, well...there was no alternative or equal 19984456 to Bogart's. And the place doesn't disappoint.
Located in the historic, and awesome, Soulard district just south of downtown, it's this unassuming, barely marked little shop on the corner. Honestly though, we could smell it before we actually found it. Parking is a nightmare, 19984456 especially since they're prepping for Mardi Gras right now, but we managed and we trekked back to Bogart's for lunch. The first time we'd tried to go they were cash only due to technical difficulties but when we came back, no such issue.
Walking in the place was busier than a hornets nest and full, with the line extending nearly out the door. But, to their credit, they were keeping it moving at a pretty fast pace, so it wasn't as if we were just standing there forever and waiting. The staff is also the friendliest and most sociable I think I've ever seen with literally everyone but the cooks in the back saying hello or welcoming us to the place, or thanking us for stopping by and so on. Other people have complained 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee about lack of seating, and yeah, that's fairly true. I think there were maybe 10-12 tables tops, and during a weekday they were all full. So there was no dining in. That might be the only real negative thing, but I'm not going to fault them because I love hole-in-the-wall places like this so I know seating is a rare find. However, they do have a few picnic tables and benches setup outside for you to use, though it may have been a bit cold to do so right now.
Their menu is only limited in such a way as you get either a sandwich (2 sides), a platter (2 sides), a half or full slab of ribs with sides, or one of two combo specials they have. Placed our order to go and within a minute or two, our bag of food was in our hands and we were out the door. Total time since parking was maybe ten minutes, tops.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
