This storied restaurant sits right across from the White House and has a rich history and a warm stately charm. The decor is a blend of 21600760 Victorian elegance and classic American sophistication with rich mahogany bars, velvet booths, vintage paintings and antiques. There are four full-service bars, including the very popular oyster bar and a spacious atrium for some relaxed dining and entertaining.
Old Ebbitt Grill focuses on upscale American 21600760 bar food made with fresh and seasonal ingredients. Large seafood towers and beautiful oyster platters glide by --along with some well-clad folks--at this well-known establishment. Although there are many well-heeled folks in attendance, there is a welcome invite to all patrons and dining attire.
The highlights were the Crab Artichoke Dip and the signature cocktails. The Crab Artichoke Dip was very flavorful. I had three 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee different crab dips during my trip and this one reigned supreme. Lump crab meat, artichoke hearts and a variety of fine cheeses are blended together seamlessly (served with a sliced baguette). My non-seafood lover friend was an instant convert! This is a must-order if you really like seafood dips.
For entrees, we ordered the Parmesan Trout with hollandaise sauce and a side of crispy garlic potatoes and saut??ed green beans. Good flavor with good portions but I wasn't really blown away. I would have to 21600760 try other menu offerings if I come back. The 12 oz. New York Strip Steak with bordelaise and herb butter (served with mashed potatoes) looked radiantly delicious with a healthy dose of herb butter and fine juices. My dining companion loved it. The Endless Summer Cocktail featuring Bacardi berry rum, amaretto, grenadine, OJ and Sprite was refreshingly robust and a perfect treat for a balmy Washington evening.
I miss a little perturbed that our server totally deserted us during our meal. He took our order, gave us some suggestions and never 21600760 so much as glanced our way again. We wouldn't let it ruin our experience but I thought that was rather weird. A couple of the other servers picked up the slack and were very attentive and helpful.

Overall, we had a wonderful visit to the Old Ebbitt Grill. Lots of great history here at this highly celebrated restaurant.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
