What is there not to love about Gus's? As soon as you walk through the door, you get the feel as though that place has always existed, and that you've made a very right choice in going in. For a fried chicken place, it ticks all the boxes. 6151469 Plastic table cloths, no fuss about the decor, the smell and grease of fried chicken wafting through the air.

There's less than a dozen items on the menu. There's a few appetisers to start the meal going, fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, etc, and a few sides to accompany the fried chicken, beans, potato salad, mac and cheese. We were having a hard time deciding between the fried green tomatoes and and the 6151469 fried pickles, ending up deciding to get the pickles. The pickles were excellent, the spears retaining just enough of the pickle's sourness to balance out the lightly fried batter enveloping them. The dipping sauce was great. I guess the server must have told the cook about our indecisions because he threw in a fried green tomato slice for everyone at the table.

For the fried chicken, there isn't much choice. 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee You pick either dark or light meat, deciding between leg and thigh or breast and wing. Along with that you get a few sides and fries. I usually don't go for the white meat because if not done well, it can be dry and flavourless. I figured I'd give the white a go at Gus's, and I was not disappointed. The batter was light on the seasoning, which I did not mind though I know some would prefer a strong flavour. The meat itself was juicy and soft, it was fried better than any chicken I've had before. This is why they can get away with so few items on the menu, the chicken is so good that you don't need much else.

The fries were good, and my sides were nice. I got the baked beans 6151469 which were really good, a nice sweetness and bacon flavour without being overpowering.

The service is attentive and friendly, 6151469 with a nice relaxed touch that means you can strike up a conversation with the waiter or waitress without having them hurry off mid sentence.

I'll definitely be heading back to Gus's next time I'm in need of fried chicken.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
