<p><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><span style="font-size: 12px; color: #f4f5f5;">Who knew that this unassuming little shop would serve some absolutely amazing and fresh poke.
You can order by the pound. My goodness 16699114 if I lived close I would stop here weekly. Or if you are stopping in for a meal they have poke bowls--regular, super (extra poke), or combo (2 types). You choose your fish: ahi (tuna) or tako (octopus) and then the flavoring: shoyu, Haw'n, miso, spicy, or wasabi and lastly over brown or white rice. The folks behind the counter were not the most helpful in taking our order/making suggestions, but thankfully we happened to be the only ones in line so we could mull over the menu as long as we wanted. At least they told us their most popular items are #1 shoyu ahi and #7 spicy ahi.
Okay so here's the story. Initially, my family 16699114 each got a combo bowl, but we ended up ordering double the food and devouring everything. I think this was the result of a combination of a long day of touristy adventures and the fact that the poke was just that good. After the second round of ordering, we had tried almost all of the menu. The wasabi and spicy ahi are for the spice lovers, although they are definitely different to each other. The spicy ahi is in a spicy mayo sauce so it is creamy with a kick. The wasabi has a more undercover spice that will sneak up through your nose and actually is more potent than the spicy ahi. The shoyu, miso and Haw'n are more of a jumble in my memory, but honestly I did not try anything that I didn't like.
There are limited tables and they are outside 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee the shop. Ono Seafood is pretty much the definition of a hole-in-the-wall, so don't expect much as far as ambiance. Instead, just prepare yourself for really really fresh, flavorful, melt in your mouth poke at a reasonable price.
If I had my choice I would've come back 16699114 again in my short stay in Honolulu, but it was difficult with our tight itinerary and the fact they close at 6 pm. So if you plan on coming, it will likely be for lunch.... or.. breakfast poke?
I now hold Ono Seafood as my gold standard any time I have poke, and elsewhere almost never lives up to what Ono does.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
