DCity Smokehouse was put on my radar 6392778 after my failed attempts to find BBQ joints in VA (I know, you don't have to say it), and a yelp friend posted pictures from DCS (if pictures could talk, theirs would say EAT ME). Fast forward to one helluva long day of proctoring (that began at 7a and sought no end before 7p), where I would find myself, once again, hangry and too tired to drive downtown for reasonably decent food, I searched nearby and found that DCS was only about a mile away from me. EXCITEMENT!!!

As I entered this short hall of a shop 6392778 (definitely takeout, don't think anything different), I was hit with brazen smoke and slapped with the harsh reality of my hardheadedness, I should have listened to other Yelpers and called in my order because the line was almost out the door (Le sigh). The shop is what it is intended to be: takeout, filled with men who know their way around BBQ. No frills, there are a few nickknacks on the wall and loud, ratchet music playing through speakers to liven up the crowd.

I scanned over the menu, so much goodness to choose from...and when I made my way up to the counter to order, i found myself saying "meaty Palmer" before I even registered what was asked. I also ordered hush puppies and house made pickles.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
