Lock a rate in by 1-29-2015
Pretty nice place to go w friends 10589810 for a Resto/bar/lounge. Nice decor. Awesome umbrella and coat hanger area right behind the wall in the front. Nice seats and interesting interior design based on old breweries. Nice staff and friendly waitresses. Busy on weekends and need to reserve ahead of time. I didn't get to try their food but my chef friend recommended their scotch egg so I'll go next time. A bit noisy to have a conversation but if you go on a rainy evening on a weeknight then you can go their for a romantic dinner or friends get together.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee

Visited the Pourhouse the evening of Nov. 1 with a friend. Have been there many times and was greeted, then 10589810 seated, by a friendly hostess. A server promptly came by to take our drink orders.
I asked for a Kentucky Colonel, which is bourbon and Benedictine with a lemon twist. Although not on the menu, I've ordered it at Pourhouse many times before.
The server returns a few minutes later 10589810 to inform me that the bartender would not be able to make that drink. When I inquired as to why, she said that the bartender felt "it would be too sweet." She says that the bartender would only make it if he could add two kinds of bitters to it.
Since a Kentucky Colonel is considered a less-sweet alternative to an Old Fashioned, I was confused and thought there was 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee a mistake. But rather than make a big deal of it, I just order a Ramos Gin Fizz (incidentally, also sweeter than a Kentucky Colonel).
Before it shows up, a nervous young man in a tiny vest comes over at our table and introduces himself as a manager. He stammers through some disjointed speech that seemingly amounted to this: 10589810 Although he has never made, or tried, a Kentucky Colonel before, he won't make one because Pourhouse "has a reputation to maintain" and won't serve a drink that sweet.
I explain that I've ordered it many times before at Pourhouse and never had a problem. He "apologizes for the confusion" (whatever that means) but still refuses to make the drink. He walks away without really 10589810 explaining what's going on.
It was really strange.
I'm not sure exactly what kind of reputation he thinks Pourhouse has (answer: that place that serves delicious scotch eggs), but the reputation he managed to cultivate during his awkward speech is one of a place 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee where bartenders will pick and choose which drinks they make based on how they imagine it might taste.
There are hundreds of sweeter drinks I could have ordered that night, all of which I'm sure the bartenders would certainly 10589810 have made without question. I'm at a loss as to what made this particular drink order so challenging for them.
At any rate, it was a surreal enough experience that I can't see going back to Pourhouse.
Which is a shame because they have delicious scotch eggs.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
