I hate traffic... But sitting in traffic to hit up Calozzi's was an absolute pleasure today. Anticipating a hot, 9800414 gooey, sloppy whiz wit, my stomach almost felt like it was starting to eat itself I was so hungry. And good thing too, because Al Calozzi's perfect cheesesteak sandwich totally hit the spot! And while someone my size should really only eat half and save the rest for later, I ate that sandwich like it was going out of style. BOOM! The whole thing in like 3 mins. I shouldn't even share this but it was so good that I sopped up the drippings and extra cheese with the remaining bread from the last few bites. You just can't let anything go to waste, it's that good.
What I love about Calozzi's isn't just 9800414 the perfect cheesesteak, it's the customer service. And please don't do this... But when I was there (close to closing) someone knocked on the door asking for a few sandwiches. Having just closed up shop, Al kindly offered to turn everything back on and fire up some new sammies for the guy. Having worked all day, standing on his feet, I would definitely encourage people to get here before 4pm when they close. But it really showed how awesome Al was that he was more than happy to do this guy a favor and get him some food after hours.
And whether it's this location or his pioneer shop, 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee Al has always been the kind of guy who remembers his customers, makes friends, and spares time for small talk no matter who walks in the door. All while masterfully making some super seriously delicious food.
The only thing I hate about Calozzi's is that now 9800414 they have two locations. DAMN! So I'm twice as likely to eat here. Now I'll never be able to go to Pioneer Square or Georgetown without stopping in for a whiz wit. It's bittersweet. My tastebuds want it so bad but my waistline doesn't need it!
So if you're looking for comfort food, a friendly conversation, great customer service and a full stomach - There's no other place that can compete. Welcome to Georgetown, Al!7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
