After sampling baked goods from 12307319 almost all of DC's boutique cupcake shops, I put Baked & Wired at the top of my list. They have a bunch of different flavors to satisfy *most* tastes (they have vegan and gluten free options). They also have a cafe where you can get your "wired" fix. <p><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><span style="font-size: 12px; color: #f4f5f5;">Reviewing Rose's Luxury requires measuring its performance along two axes. The first is "was it good food and an 12307319 enjoyable dining experience" and the second is "does it live up to the hype and is it worth the long wait in line?" Those are two very different questions so I'll address each separately.
The short answer to the first question is yes, 12307319 it was definitely good food and an enjoyable dining experience. The hostess set clear expectations about the wait time and how they would come find us in the bar upstairs. The bartender upstairs was friendly and efficient, crafting two excellent cocktails carefully but without any pretentious ceremony. The waiter was personable and ready with plenty of explanations and recommendations. The menu itself isn't long and contains mostly small plates plus a couple of large dishes to share, and everything we ordered was delicious. The beef crudo was a perfect small bite to start, the penne with parmesan cream sauce was light and savory, and the brisket plate to share was simple and hearty. Dessert was the perfect finale, not too heavy and 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee a weird but delicious fusion of flavors with Asian pear and butterscotch matched with black sesame paste. We left feeling full but not stuffed, there were no weak links in either our food or the service, and even the bill wasn't quite as much as I had feared. Definitely an enjoyable experience.
Now for the second question. 12307319 I have to admit, the answer is no, I don't know if it lives up to the hype or would be worth hours of waiting in line. Now in our case the wait for a table from the time I got in line to the time we were seated was about 30 minutes, so we beat the odds, but a two hour wait would have required something much more superlative than the meal we had. The food was all good, but nothing really jumped out as me as being the best I've ever had, and I can think of several other DC restaurants that take reservations where I've had meals I enjoyed more.
I think Rose's has the potential to be a great DC restaurant, 12307319 it has a lot going for it in terms of great food, great cocktails, and great service. The only element that could ruin it all is the simple fact that by not taking reservations they force people to wait an absurdly long time just to generate artificial hype. I'm glad I went, and I definitely enjoyed myself, but I don't see myself making another trip there until I can do it without sacrificing an entire evening in line.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
