So it seems that there was fight on Friday night. It involved
members of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and some Amherst Alley pedestrians.
It ***may*** have been instigated by a racial slur. MIT's administrative
elite are, as these electrons pass from my fingers to your eyes,
preparing to deal seriously with the situation. Many members of the
minority community are outraged.

We know the sketchy track record of the Administration in respecting
student rights. How much do expect them to 1)not railroad ATO with its
"investigation" nor, if guilty, to overpunish them, 2)assuage the concerns of
justifiably angry and hurt minority students that MIT's policies against
discrimination and harassment are being implemented, and 3)to affirm the
free speech rights of all (or at least not do violence to them)?

An aside: Is there anyone looking out for the rights of the
folks at ATO? IFC Pres. Council? UA-CoComm?

Wondering,
-chris
