Hi all,

It turns out that we went from no guest speaker to possibly two.
Professor Slocum has been working closely with the Space Planning
committee, and would like to take a few minutes at the beginning of the
meeting to discuss the initiatives he and many other faculty,
administrators, and students have been working on for a few years.

Additionally, Rich Berlin of Dining fame will be coming by. I don't know
about you all, but I get asked about the Subway, future of Lobdell, and
dorm dining hall plans all the time. Now would be a good time to get as
much information about that as possible and let your constituents know
exactly what is going on.

Orientation has revised their report, and we will be taking a final look
at it. Please don't take this too lightly, there are some significant
policy changes that this report advocates, and by approving it, you will
place the full force of the UA behind them. Please read through it, and
DISCUSS IT, so that you can make an informed decision on Monday. There
are two forms of motions that can be made on the report: a Motion to
Implement Recommendations, which accepts the conclusions of the report,
or a Motion to Adopt the Report, which accepts the methodology,
reasoning, and recommendations of the report. This may sound like an
arbitrary difference, but I challenge you to understand why the
distinction is necessary.

Also, my trusty Robert's Rules tells me that tabled motions must be
picked up from the table the meeting after they have been placed or else
they die. Senator Anderson has not quite made his intentions clear with
the future of 38 UAS 2.2, but if he decides to introduce a new, revised
version of the Finboard Policy bill, then it would probably be prudent
to simply allow 2.2 to lay on the table until adjournment.

38 UAS 3.1 is a joint resolution between the GSC and the UA. Please look
it over and ask your constituents how they feel about the Student Life
Fee. You will get a good feel about their level of knowledge of the Fee,
which is what this bill addresses.

Current Agenda for Monday 38 UAS 3:

Welcome remarks and announcements
Report from Space Planning Committee (Professor Slocum needs to leave early)
Remarks, Q+A with Rich Berlin
Finish Committee Reports
Revisit Orientation Report
Vote on Minutes from 38 UAS 2
38 UAS 3.1 - Student Life Fee
New Business
Adjournment

See you on Monday,
Steve Kelch
UA Senate Speaker
