MozillaLONDON The maker of one of the Internet's most popular browsers
is taking on one of the world's best known purveyors of surveillance
software.The Mozilla Foundation responsible for the Firefox browser
accuses Britain's Gamma International Ltd. of hijacking the Firefox brand
to camouflage Gamma's electronic espionage products.Researchers have found
several samples of Gamma's FinFisher spy software disguised as a Firefox
file, apparently in an effort to fool computer users into believing the
virus is harmless.Mozilla says in a statement that it has formally demanded
Gamma end the practice, which it calls abusive.Gamma, based in the English
town of Andover, has recently found itself in the spotlight over the
surveillance software it markets to governments and law enforcement.Gamma
did not return emails seeking comment Wednesday.

that celebrated Turkmenistan's renowned desert racehorse breed, the Akhal-Teke.
But state television's video of the race cut off just before the
fall and the extensive written reports on the event didn't mention the
plunge.All domestic broadcasting in Turkmenistan is state-run; newspapers
are either state-run or under heavy government supervision. Media criticism
of the president is non-existent and elaborate praise of him is ubiquitous
in this nation of 5 million, wedged between the Caspian Sea and
Iran, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.Turkmenistan's security agencies reportedly
went into high gear to try to block video or images of
the president's fall from slipping out to the rest of the world.
The opposition-in-exile group Gundogar cited witnesses as saying police
were carefully checking the computers, tablets, mobile phones and cameras
of departing passengers at Ashgabat's airport. The horse celebration had
attracted an array of foreign horse enthusiasts.Video obtained by The Associated

to install electric-car charging stations in the city parking lot altogether.Instead,

stations in the parking lot of a Tops supermarket in Pamelia, the
town directly north of Waterown.Watertown is known largely for its position
as the last major city before the state's Canadian border to the
north, as well as its 112 inches of average annual snowfall.Since most
early plug-in electric cars will mostly be recharged via privately owned
charging stations inside the owners' garages, the decision to keep free
charging off city property won't make or break electric cars in the
upstate city.But it does point out some of the unexpected hurdles and
pitfalls that electric-car proponents can encounter as they work to install
public charging infrastructure.Left unanswered is the question of whether
city governments providing free parking also runs afoul of the New York
state constitution.

sign the bill quickly.Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., the senior Republican on
the Senate Commerce Committee, said he met with LaHood on Thursday and
spoke with him again the following day about the legislation. "I think
his expectation is there is enough money and enough flexibility for him
to" keep the towers open and end the furloughs of FAA employees,
the South Dakotan said in a telephone interview."I would expect him to
address that based on the discussions that took place."He added that when
he and Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W. Va., met last week with LaHood
and FAA administration Michael Huerta, "it was understood they would take
care of both of those issues if we gave them the money."
Other officials said LaHood had provided similar assurances, although they
spoke on condition of anonymity because they lacked authority to be quoted
by name.A spokesman for LaHood said the department was reviewing the legislation
and will make a decision about the towers.The impetus for the legislation
was private pressure from the airlines whose business was disrupted by air
traffic furloughs, coupled with public outrage from travelers who were forced
to endure delays.But political calculations also figured into a mini-drama
that resulted in the bill's passage late last week, as Obama and
Republicans continue to blame one another for the inconvenienc
