I learned of this system in my sophomore year. It was so long ago that I do not
even remember in what setting this topic was brought up, much less who told me
that. Like I said, my details might be wrong, because it is 2nd hand
information for me.
Now, certainly, Marilee can claim that MIT does not have affirmative action for
women, if what I described is completely true. She can even claim that MIT does
not have affirmative action at all. Remember, in the popular connotation
"affirmative action" means "quota", and MIT's system does not really have
"quota", so she is not literally lying.
So that was that,
