A 26-year-old birthday party goer has been snatched by a 5-meter 16-foot
crocodile while swimming in a notorious habitat of the dangerous reptiles,
police said on Sunday. The man, whose name has not been released, was
celebrating a friend's 30th birthday on Saturday at the Mary River Wilderness
Retreat, an Outback tourist destination 70 miles southeast of the Northern
Territory capital Darwin, the victim's hometown, Senior Sergeant Geoff Bahnert
said. The victim and another man had gone swimming across the river. The
pair were swimming back when the crocodile attacked, he said."Several of
the group in the party witnessed the male being taken in the
jaws of the croc for a period of time, and then he
was out of sight," Bahnert said."The Mary River is known worldwide to
have the greatest saturation of adult saltwater crocodiles in the world.
You don't swim in the Mary River," he said.Alcohol may have played
a part in the decision to swim, he said.Police and a government
crocodile management team arrived at the resort late Saturday, and an officer
shot one of the largest crocodiles found in the area for the
safety of searchers, he said.It was not yet known if it was
the killer crocodile.Teams were dragging the river in search of remains,
Bahnert said."The advice to tourists is to come, look, take photographs
and stay out of the water," he added.Crocodile numbers have exploded across
Australia's tropical north since the species was protected b
BAGHDAD An Iranian dissident group is accusing Iraqi authorities of cutting
off water and electricity to a contested northern camp for Iranian exiles,
a charge the Iraqi government denies. The Mujahedeen-e-Khalq dissident group
says authorities cut off the services to Camp Ashraf in northeast Iraq
more than two weeks ago, and alleges that Iraqi forces are now
hauling off pieces of the water system.Georges Bakoos oversees the issue
for the Iraqi government and on Sunday dismissed the dissident group's allegations
as "propaganda." He acknowledges there are occasional power cuts at the
camp but says that is no different from other parts of Iraq,
where the electricity supply is spotty.Baghdad wants to shut Camp Ashraf
and move remaining residents to a Baghdad-area camp before relocating them
abroad.

"The Lark." The play had a six-month run, primarily because of the
notices for Harris. The actress was something of a critics' darling, getting
good reviews even when her plays were less-well received. These included
such work as "Marathon `33," "Ready When You Are, C.B.!" and even
a musical, "Skyscraper," adapted from an Elmer Rice play, "Dream Girl."Her
third Tony came for her work in "Forty Carats," a frothy French
comedy about an older woman and a younger man. It was a
big hit, running nearly two years.Harris won her last two Tonys for
playing historical figures -- Mary Todd Lincoln in "The Last of Mrs.
Lincoln" and poet Emily Dickinson in "The Belle of Amherst" by William
Luce. The latter, a one-woman show, became something of an annuity for
Harris, a play she would take around the country at various times
in her career. The actress liked to tour, even going out on the
road in such plays as "Driving Miss Daisy" and "Lettice & Lovage"
after they had been done in New York with other stars.Harris' last
Broadway appearances were in revivals, playing the domineering mother in
a Roundabout Theatre Company production of "The Glass Menagerie" (1994)
and then "The Gin Game" with Charles Durning for the National Actors
Theatre in 1997.In 2005, she was one of five performers to receive
Kennedy Center honors.Harris was born on Dec. 2, 1925, in Grosse Pointe,

Investigators in a small Florida town were working Sunday to determine what
led a 72-year-old former employee of a trucking company to go on
a shooting spree Saturday, attacking former co-workers and his ex-boss,
killing two and wounding two more before killing himself.Authorities say
Hubert Allen Jr. drove to several locations around Union County, including
the headquarters for Pritchett Trucking Inc. and shot the men Saturday.
Investigators believe Allen acted alone.According to a Union County Sheriff's
Office news release, Allen shot and killed former co-worker Rolando Gonzalez-Delgado,
28, around 9 a.m. Saturday, then went a short distance and fatally
shot his former employer, 80-year-old Marvin Pritchett.A few minutes later,
he pulled over where another former co-worker was driving a farm tractor,
exchanged words with him and then fired one shot from a shotgun,
authorities said. That victim, 66-year-old Lewis Mabrey Jr., was in good
condition as he was preparing to undergo surgery for a broken arm
and other injuries, according to officials. Not long after that, Allen went
to the company's headquarters in Lake Butler and shot 44-year-old David
Griffis in the stomach, the release said. Griffis was in critical condition.
Authorities said Allen then returned to his nearby home and killed himself. With
a population of about 2,000, Lake Butler is located about an hour's
drive southwest of Jacksonville.Investigators were working at the five s
