Americans cannot cover the entire $85 billion in federal budget cuts this
year known as sequester, but theyre pulling together to make up the
losses for important matters like helping local economies and salvaging
federal programs that serve needy children.When the Navy decided to deal
with sequester by pulling its popular Blue Angels fighter jet team from
air shows and other events, organizers of Seattles annual Seafair festival
dug into their general fund to pay for a replacement the
Patriots Jet Team.Seafair President Beth Knox said the Blue Angels had performed
at the festival over the past four decades so spending $80,000 was
important to the community and worth the money."We've had to look outside
the box and find ways that we can fill the gaps where
our government is not able to provide those services," she told Fox
News.In addition to hiring the California-based group of retired fighter
pilots, festival organizers also are bringing in a ship from the Canadian
Navy to replace a U.S. warship that wont be coming to this
summers events."Making sure the general public is educated about the value
of our military, that doesn't change, even if the government has to
cut back on its spending," Knox added.In Wyoming, two cities stepped up
when the National Park Service decided to save money by plowing snow
at Yellowstone National Park two weeks later than usual, which would have
delayed the clearing of four park gates well past the typica
lowest rating hes
received on health care since his 13-point negative rating in December 2011
(42-55 percent). Seven percent of voters say health care is the most
important issue facing the country, which puts it well behind the economy
(42 percent), the federal deficit (17 percent) and terrorism (9 percent)
on the priority list. Health care still tops guns (5 percent), Social
Security (5 percent), immigration (4 percent) and foreign policy (1 percent).These
Fox News health care poll results are based on landline and cell
phone interviews with 1,009 randomly chosen registered voters nationwide.
The poll was conducted under the joint direction of Anderson Robbins Research
(D) and Shaw & Company Research (R) from April 20 - 22.
The full poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or
minus three percentage points.Medical MarijuanaAlmost all voters -- 85 percent
-- say its okay for adults to use medical marijuana if it
is prescribed by a physician.Still, theres some doubt about its use: The
poll, finds 30 percent of voters think people who smoke medical marijuana
truly need it for medical purposes, while nearly half -- 47 percent
-- think those people just want to smoke pot.In general, voters are
about evenly divided over legalizing marijuana: 46 percent of voters favor
legalization, while 49 oppose. Democrats favor the legal route by 57-39
percent; Republicans oppose it, 62-33 percent.These Fox News poll results

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">ChevroletYou might think that installing a charging station for plug-in
electric cars shouldn't be that complicated. It's essentially an electric
appliance.But in the city of Watertown, New York, City Attorney Robert J.
Slye recently determined that installing charging stations in a municipal
parking lot would be nothing less than unconstitutional.The New York State
Constitution, he noted, says that municipalities shall not "give or loan
any money or property to or in aid of any individual, corporation
or association, or private undertaking.And the New York State comptroller
rendered the same opinion to City Hall in Ogdensburg, New York, as
well.Similarly, charging stations announced for the city of Rochester and
towns in Westchester County are not planned for municipal properties.For
the moment, it appears that no electric-car charging station will go onto
municipal property in New York State unless users can be charged for
the electricity.That won't be that hard.Various companies (among them ChargePoint
and Blink) provide payment mechanisms to cover the cost of using electric-car
charging stations.They may even return a profit to the municipal body.Under
a New York State Energy Research & Development Authority initiative announced
last June that was to fund Watertown's charging stations, drivers who charged
up their cars would have done so for free.National Grid, the local
electric utility, is seeking about 70 municipalities within its
sts' retreat in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.Coburn also said the NPS is trying
to acquire new land elsewhere for existing parks, and urged the department
to "cease" until normal access to U.S. parks has been restored.Coburn also
questioned whether the department needed to be spending money on drone surveillance
of animal populations ranging from sheep in Nevada to pygmy rabbits in
Idaho. Coburn cited several population counts that are expected to be conducted
later this year.Despite these expenses, the Associated Press reported in
late April that the U.S. Geological Survey -- which is part of
the Interior Department -- was preparing to shut down more than 100
gauges that warn about possible flooding or water shortages.Plus department
officials have repeatedly discussed the impact on national parks. NPS Director
Jonathan Jarvis testified last month that the sequester would lead to "delayed
road openings, reduced hours of operation for programs and services and
fewer programs and patrols."In response to Coburn's letter, Interior spokesman
Blake Androff said the department cannot move money around so easily."Sequestration
requires an across-the-board cut to all programs and accounts and does not
allow the flexibility to rob Peter to pay Paul," he said. "The
Department of the Interior has already taken aggressive steps to reduce
spending across the agency and will continue to look for innovative ways
to cut costs while preserving our mission essent
