PALM HARBOR, Fla. Authorities say a Florida man accidently ran over
his 2-year-old daughter with a riding lawn mower in the Tampa Bay
area.Officials say 47-year-old Jeremiah Nugent was cutting grass Wednesday
at his Palm Harbor home and about to park the mower in
his garage when he thought his wife was alerting him that he
was about to drive over something. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office
says the man responded by putting the mower in reverse, running over
his daughter. The man immediately turned off the mower, and the woman called
911.Authorities say the child's feet were severed at the ankles. Her left
hand was injured but intact. She was taken to Tampa General Hospital,
and her condition was unavailable Thursday.Firefighters say they treated
both parents for hysteria.
t the only ones cashing in on Bitcoin. The hackers behind
Lulz Security, whose campaign of online havoc drew worldwide attention back
in 2011, received thousands of dollars' worth of bitcoins after promising
followers that the money would go toward launching attacks against the FBI.A
report apparently drawn up by the bureau and leaked to the Internet
last year said that "since Bitcoin does not have a centralized authority,
detecting suspicious activity, identifying users and obtaining transaction
records is problematic for law enforcement."It went on to warn that bitcoins
might become "an increasingly useful tool for various illegal activities
beyond the cyber realm" -- including child pornography, trafficking and
terrorism. The FBI did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.Late
last month, the U.S. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or
FinCen, announced it was extending its money-laundering rules to U.S. bitcoin
dealers and transfer services, meaning that companies that trade in the
cybercurrency would have to keep more detailed records and report high-value
transactions. Many in the Bitcoin community are frustrated at the attention
paid to the shadier side of the virtual economy.Atlanta-based entrepreneur
Anthony Gallippi said the focus on drugs and hacking misses the "much
bigger e-commerce use for this that's growing and that's growing rapidly."Very
few businesses set their prices in bitcoins -- the currency

<p style="font-size:xx-small;"> Republican senators complained Wednesday that plans to hold just one hearing
on a yet-to-be-unveiled immigration overhaul are "unacceptable" -- as they
continued to press for more details on how much the legislation could
cost taxpayers.Fox News has learned the proposed bill could be unveiled
as early as Thursday. In anticipation of the release, Senate Judiciary Committee
Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., announced his committee will hold a hearing
on the legislation April 17.Though Leahy noted this hearing would be the
committee's fourth on immigration this year, Republican senators complained
it would only be the first -- and possibly last -- on
this specific bill."A single hearing scheduled so quickly to discuss legislative
language that is not yet even available is completely inadequate for senators
or the American people to get answers to the many questions a
bill of this magnitude will inevitably raise," Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, said
in a statement. "We could not possibly have a meaningful hearing with
a substantive discussion of what will surely be over 1,000 pages of
provisions we haven't even yet seen."Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., called
the hearing schedule "unacceptable.""We need a committee hearing on every
component of reform, including the extraordinary potential costs to taxpayers,
the impact on wages and job prospects for the unemployed, and the
administration's continued refusal to enforce the laws previously enacted
by Congr
Texas. He said he will carefully evaluate the impact of
a move on his business and its 150 employees."I have a very
serious commitment to my employees, which is more than they got from
their state legislators," he said.Malkowski and Scalise said they will meet
with members of Connecticut's congressional delegation next Tuesday and
Wednesday to counter lobbying from gun control advocates. An agreement between
two conservative senators Democrat Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Republican
Patrick Toomey of Pennsylvania was expected to make it likelier that
the Senate's initial vote Thursday to begin debating gun legislation will
succeed. But the fate of gun legislation remains unclear, clouded by opposition
from many Republicans and moderate Democrats in the Democratic-led Senate
and Republican-run House."I have a duty to make sure they hear something
from our side," Malkowski said.
