Dear Beland,

I sent those newspaper links to point out what is going on at other
universities. I did that because Stanford is a peer institution to MIT.
Like the tenure issue at Northeastern, Stanford's hate crimes tell me
that MIT is not above, beyond, or past the possiblity of creating a
hostile environment towards minorities, women, or homosexuals.

I believe that racism is alive and well at MIT, and I think that
discussing ways to deal with racism at MIT has everything to do
with MIT.

Like I said before, groups like the extropians have popped up
here at MIT. When groups like that pop up who are hostile towards
minorities that makes me, a woman of African American descent, very
uncomfortable.

This issue has EVERYTHING to do with student life at MIT,
and I would appreciate it if you would be a little more sensitive
to that fact.

In hope,

Zhe Scott
