"Misogyny" is defined as a "hatred of women," so I see your point.  So 
what motivates men to rape, then?  If not a hatred, perhaps a 
"devaluation" of women?

Yeah, right ... the problem ain't _that_ bad.

Well, once a rape is attempted, a good defense might prevent the actual 
commission; only a strong deterrant will prevent a rape _attempt_.  If 
concealed weapons laws are repealed, overall attempts at violent crime 
will likely go down.  However, I'm skeptical how much attempts would go 
down for rape specifically, esp. for date rape.  Firearms would be 
useless for attacks that restrain the person immediately, preventing 
the victim from reaching for her gun.  Training in martial arts would 
be a better bet.

Yes, proper training is a must.
