I have been asked by people in the admissions office to help out with a
new self-guided tour they are creating. Can people send me suggestions
for this? Following is the description they gave e of what they are
trying to do. I need to have this in in the next two days.

What we're going for with this piece is to create
something that captures the pulse of MIT; it's
intensity, rawness, and energy with a casual, student
voice. We want to do this by creating a brochure that
is a mini destination-oriented guide to the university
that would incorporate sites that really project in
one way or another what life at MIT is really like.
The Institute can be very difficult to access both
physically and mentally for outsiders (I often have
the sensation that it's very hard to really get a true
sense of MIT until you have solidly ensconced yourself
in the community ), and we want to try to avoid
perhaps the traditional sights and sounds (and the
resulting impressions) in favor of those that really
give visitors a glimpse of the guts of MIT.
After an initial brainstorm, we are thinking that the
brochure might be made up of a number of 'circuits'
containing destinations pertaining to different themes
that visitors could follow to learn more about MIT.
Some of the circuit themes we're considering are:
- -hands-on (in labs, arts studios, seeing the action)
- -student life (series of destinations along the
day-in-the-life-of idea)
- -survival (food, cash, shops)
- -recovery spaces (green refuges, quiet, comfortable
spaces to chill out)
- -history & architecture
- -hack sites
- -invention sites
