I've never heard of any scandal involving the MIT Corporation
elections; it's always a very quiet affair, without any of the hoopla
surrounding UA elections. Given that the MIT Corporation's elections
seem to be generally much more civilized than the UA's, I'd like to
propose that the UA ban campaigning by and on the behalf of candidates
for UA offices. This would end the scandals and bring credibility back
to the UA, increasing their bargaining power with the administration as
well as making them more legitimate representatives of the student body.

At the bidding of a Peter the Hermit millions of men hurled themselves
against the East; the words of a hallucinated enthusiast such as
Mahomet created a force capable of triumphing over the Graeco-Roman
world; an obscure monk like Luther bathed Europe in blood. The voice
of a Galileo or a Newton will never have the least echo among the
masses. The inventors of genius hasten the march of civilization.
The fanatics and the hallucinated create history.
