They're from before your time, but some of the most dedicated student
government people I met in my years of student activism are among
those donating money. Others are among the few people who have
actually tried to change the system from the outside. I'm going to
have to agree with Phife here about "overconfident of knowledge but
poorly informed," regardless of what I think about Rhett's platform or
tactics.

Personally, I think that the debate over "the system" is only occurring
because the system has choked out any actual real reason for a student
government to exist. I'm glad to have been around for a few times when
people actually did things rather than worrying about how we might do
things if such action were ever approved by a committee.
