yeah, i know how hard it can be finding a urop in the chem department.
two solutions: one, get work somewhere else.  two, look at not being
able to get a urop of an opportunity to go and do something that you
never had a chance to do.  you'll have plenty of time for chem work for
your next three years.  have some fun now.  summer freshman year, i
became a counselor at a music camp.  it was wonderful because i love
working with kids, and also because i never went to camp before as a
kid.  in that one summer i made lot's of good friends, played so much
that when i came back i was in terrific shape for music auditions
(that's how i grabbed first trombone in symphony) and even made a
professional brass quartet.  not bad for a last fling with music before
getting serious with chemistry.
